Singer-songwriter-turned-Vivamax actress Ataska Mercado revealed on April 5 during the press conference for her upcoming sexy flick, ‘Sweet Release,’ that she now loves acting more than singing.
“Actually, while we were doing this film, nagkaroon ako ng realization that acting is really the thing that I want to succeed in and the thing that I’m most passionate about,” she revealed.
Looking back at the questions she was frequently asked, the multi-talented sexy star admitted to having internal struggles. However, the Vivamax film by director Pancho Maniquis helped her give a definite answer.
“Kasi before, I would be asked all the time na, ‘What do you prefer? Singing or acting?’ Then I would always say na, ‘Why not both?’
“Kasi, I’m always that type of person na I wanna do everything that I love. Pero, if I really like had to choose something I want to succeed in, it would be acting, and it’s because of this film. That’s how I came to this realization,” remarked Mercado.
“Sweet Release” is about two best friends (Mercado and Dyessa Garcia) and a guy friend (Mhack Morales) who take on a journey of self-discovery. Along the way, they not only find themselves but also their sexual desires.
A ‘cathartic’ experience
Delving into the film’s emotional resonance, Mercado described it as a “cathartic” experience, claiming it helped her discover her true passion.
“I guess, doing this movie din in a way, was cathartic. It was my sweet release kasi may mga personal stuff din ako na pinagdadaanan at the time while we were filming this,” she confessed.
She continued, “I was like able to parang let go and really—parang similar to what our characters were doing; kind of like discovering themselves, and parang discovering the things I’m passionate about, and stuff like that. It’s actually my sweet release, creatively by doing what I love, doing my passion, which is acting and art.”
