Kapamilya actor Adrian Lindayag recently revealed his profound mission following his diagnosis with HIV, aiming to spread awareness and destigmatize the condition.
In an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN News on Thursday, April 4, Lindayag shared his journey since receiving the diagnosis in late 2017.
“Angel” is the character Lindayag seeks to portray once more in the upcoming musical production of ‘Rent’ on April 19, as he believes it provides an essential platform to share the story of someone living with HIV on a larger stage.
“I was inspired by the story of Angel who lived a full life even with HIV. That is what I want to embody. Somehow I feel like I have a second life,” Lindayag expressed.
Furthermore, Lindayag emphasized his desire to break the stigma surrounding HIV and encourage individuals to undergo testing. He stressed the importance of knowledge and access to medication, highlighting that with proper treatment, individuals can lead fulfilling lives despite the diagnosis.
“I’ve been living in shame for the past few years and I just got tired of it. I want to motivate them to get tested. Knowledge is power. You can live a full life and be a person like me, you would not even know,” Lindayag shared.
Lindayag’s advocacy aligns with the objective of raising awareness about HIV/AIDS and promoting regular testing to prevent further transmission. Through his role in ‘Rent’ and his candid sharing of his experience, he hopes to inspire others to prioritize their health and seek necessary medical attention.
Alongside Lindayag, the musical production will feature notable talents such as Jordan Andrews, Mister Universe Philippines Markki Stroem, Guji Lorenzana, Ian Pangilinan, and more.
