Comedienne-actress Whitney Tyson recently shared her ordeal of facing bullying from certain co-stars during television tapings.
In an interview with Julius Babao, Whitney recounted instances of mistreatment during her involvement in the 1992 series ‘Mara Clara’ and the TV adaptation of ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.’
Reflecting on her past encounters, Whitney disclosed encountering issues and complaints from the production team during her time on ‘Mara Clara,’ eventually leading to her departure from the show.
When queried about whether fellow artists subjected her to bullying, Whitney affirmed, detailing an incident during a location shoot by the seaside where she was unfairly blamed for bringing sand into their accommodations.
She narrated, “Tapos ‘nung time na ‘yun, nagte-taping sila, ako natutulog sa bus kasi nga ayaw ko nang mapagalitan na andoon ako sa kwarto.”
Whitney also revealed a subsequent occurrence of bullying upon joining the cast of ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano,’ recounting being emotionally affected during tapings due to perceived mistreatment.
“Dito naman sa ‘Ang Probinsyano,’ meron din. Parang naulit muli, pinaiyak din ako diyan,” she shared.
Whitney elaborated on an episode where, after returning to her room and brushing her teeth, she was accused of being noisy. However, it was the accuser who was causing the disturbance, banging doors and seeking allies to target her.
Though Whitney did not name the individual she referred to, she noted actress Ara Mina as her confidante and ally during that period.
Despite the challenges, Whitney persevered, remaining on set until her role in the series concluded. Reflecting on her experience, she expressed bewilderment at her co-worker’s behavior.
“Sabi ko, ‘Mabait naman ako, sumusunod naman ako sa mga roles na gusto nila, pero bakit ganito ang babaeng ito? Siguro gusto niyang mawala ako doon para masolo niya ang pagka-diva’,” Whitney concluded.
