The breakout hit ‘Selos’ by Moro artist Shaira has been pulled from streaming platforms due to copyright complications, revealed AHS Productions, the production company behind the song, in an announcement on Tuesday.
In an official statement, AHS Productions expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to fans of the popular track and clarified ongoing efforts to resolve the copyright issue and obtain a cover license for its re-release.
“Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh. On behalf of our artist, Shaira, AHS Productions would like to convey our heartfelt apologies to all those who have enjoyed listening to the song ‘Selos’ as it is now unavailable in all online streaming platforms,” the statement read.
“This is a voluntary act on our end as we are still making arrangements with regards to the legality of the publication of the song. We have chosen to take it down from all platforms pending our agreement with the original artist’s management on securing a cover license for ‘Selos’,” the production company elaborated.
Responding to concerns raised by fans regarding the song’s resemblance to ‘Trouble is a Friend’ by Australian singer Lenka, AHS Productions assured the public that they are actively liaising with Lenka’s team to formalize ‘Selos’ as an official cover.
“As most of you may know, the melody that we have used is originally from a song entitled ‘Trouble is a Friend’ by Lenka and as of the moment, we are already in contact with her team for us to make ‘Selos’ an official cover,” affirmed AHS Productions.
Despite the setback, AHS Productions expressed gratitude to Shaira’s supporters for their unwavering enthusiasm and pledged to re-upload the song once the copyright matter is resolved.
“To those who have been entertained by Shaira’s cover song, we are truly grateful to you for opening your hearts to a song that we once only made public for the sake of entertainment. We certainly did not expect that it will become this big to a point where Shaira will be known as the “Queen of Bangsamoro Pop”. We could not be prouder,” the statement concluded.
“We hope that when time comes and we will be re-uploading the song, you will show her the same love and acceptance. Again, thank you very much and we are hoping for your understanding. Peace and good vibes to all!”
