Kapuso star Ruru Madrid had a slip of the tongue during the March 12 ‘Sparkle Goes to Canada’ press conference concerning girlfriend Bianca Umali.
During the question and answer portion of the meetup, the ‘Black Rider’ star shared how he and Umali would excite the fans in Canada. Instead of saying something sweet, Madrid joked about how he constantly annoyed his girlfriend.
“Hindi naman kami usually magkasama sa project ‘di ba? So siguro parang, sa six years namin together, parang kusa na lamang lumalabas iyon. Most of the time, galit siya sa akin,” the actor jokingly said.
In his defense, he considered the gesture as “tough love,” especially whenever he felt the jitters.
Meanwhile, Umali answered what the press was looking for. However, she did not forget to remind her boyfriend that they would have “a talk.”
“Siguro what people can look forward sa aming dalawa, tama naman ang sinabi niya (Ruru). Since hindi kami palaging magkasama sa mga projects, we don’t really perform together, sobrang bihira. So, eto, parang isang full show na as Ruru and Bianca kami. We are excited kung ano ang magiging pagtanggap ng mga tao,” answered the actress.
“Mamaya kita papagalitan,” she jokingly warned.
Ruru looks forward to a future with Bianca.
Behind the couple’s playfulness during the press conference, Madrid described Umali as his “girlfriend-slash-mom.”
The actor trusts his girlfriend in preparing not only his things but also in putting his mind at ease.
“Siguro parang feeling ko, girlfriend slash mom. Ganoon siya mag-alaga talaga ever since lalo na kapag nagta-travel. Ako kasi kabado ako kapag wala ako Pilipinas, sa hindi ko teritoryo. Siya ang nagpapakalma sa akin, siya ang nagsasabi sa akin na, ‘Enjoy mo lang, enjoy mo lang this moment,’ he shared.
Umali’s gesture had Madrid always looking forward to making memories with her, stating that those will be for future stories they will share with their future family.
“Kumbaga i-cherish natin ang moment na ito dahil ito ‘yung babalik-balikan natin sa future at maike-kwento natin sa ating future anak, apo,” he said. “Kaya grateful ako kay Bianca eh.”
In the ‘Sparkle Goes to Canada’ tour, the couple will perform alongside Barbie Forteza, David Licauco, Julie Anne San Jose, and Rayver Cruz. The event is a back-to-back show, under the direction of Johnny “Mr. M” Manahan. It will start at the Southview Alliance Church in Calgary, then a show at the Toronto Pavilion on April 7.
