‘Tiktoclock’ host Rabiya Mateo commended GMA Network for actively dismantling the stereotype that equates “sexy” actresses solely with their physical appearance.
During the launching of Sparkle 10 at the network’s Studio 7, the 27-year-old Mateo applauded GMA Network for taking “a big step” of proving that sexually appealing and beautiful women are also talented.
“It’s also breaking the stereotypes. Kasi dati, when we think of a sexy actress, ‘yun lang ang kaya nilang i-offer,” said the beauty queen-turned-artist. “But now, somebody like Faith (Da Silva), who is sexy can be a host; si Ashley (Ortega) can represent the country sa kanyang craft; maraming award-winning actress dito sa lineup na ito.”
Being part of this diverse group also filled her with immense pride, “I’m very proud to be part of this group. At the same time, maraming manonood sa amin who will also feel confident about themselves. Kasi nakikita niyo, we’re different, may individuality kami, but at the same time, inclusive kami.”
Furthermore, Sparkle’s group of empowered women could be someone that the young generation can look up to.
“We have different beauties, may Oriental, may Asian, may foreigner, so I guess dapat marami tayong representation na makita sa TV kasi maraming bata who look up to us, na every time nakikita nila kami, they can ensure na someday, they are going to be successful sa chosen path nila,” claimed Mateo.
Mateo is joined by Angel Guardian, Ashley Ortega, Elle Villanueva, Faith Da Silva, Kate Valdez, Lexi Gonzales, Lianne Valentin, Liezel Lopez, and Shuvee Entrata in Sparkle’s newest initiative.
