The inaugural Cinepanalo Film Festival, organized by Puregold, celebrated its awards ceremony on Saturday at the Gateway Cinema in Cubao, Quezon City.
Topping the list of winners in the full-length feature category was the film ‘Pushcart Tales,’ which revolves around six individuals trapped inside a grocery store during natural disasters. Directed by Sigrid Bernardo, it clinched the Best Director award, while its cast members Shamaine Buencamino and Carlos Siguion-Reyna received significant acting recognitions.
Another notable film was ‘Under A Piaya Moon,’ an Ilonggo production narrating the journey of a young man striving to uphold his family legacy by competing in an inter-city pastry contest with the guidance of his quarreling grandparents. It secured the Best Full-Length Feature Film award along with several technical accolades, including Best Editing, Cinematography, and Production Design, in addition to Best Supporting Actor for Joel Torre.
Both ‘Piaya’ and ‘Pushcart’ amassed six awards each.
