The sudden cancellation of TAPE, Inc.’s noontime show ‘Tahanang Pinakamasaya’ on GMA Network has left many disheartened, not only for the loss of the program but also for the staff and production team members now facing unemployment.
The turn of events unfolded swiftly, with the show’s final episode airing unexpectedly on March 2. Currently, only replay episodes fill the void left by the program’s absence.
Reports suggest that TAPE, Inc. still owes GMA Network a significant outstanding balance, reportedly amounting to ₱800 million, accumulated since the original ‘Eat Bulaga’ days.
Observers note that the show failed to make a significant impact and often found itself overshadowed by rivals such as ‘It’s Showtime’ and ‘Eat Bulaga.’ The shifting landscape of viewer preferences has seen a decline in emphasis on traditional free-to-air TV platforms.
During discussions surrounding the show’s cancellation, Ogie Diaz approached one of its hosts, Paolo Contis, for comment. However, Contis politely declined engagement at the time.
“I asked Paolo Contis since malapit naman tayo sa batang ‘yan, hiningi niya na huwag ko muna siyang kausapin. Gusto raw muna niyang mapag-isa,” Diaz revealed.
According to Contis, “Mare, pass muna ‘ko, papahinga lang ako… sino naman tayo para kulitin ‘yong bata, ‘di ba?”
As of now, there are no concrete plans for a replacement for the ‘Tahanang Pinakamasaya’ time slot.
