Comedian-actor Paolo Contis joked on March 15 that his position in the Kapuso comedy sketch show ‘Bubble Gang’ was in jeopardy following its move to a new timeslot.
Formerly airing late at night, ‘Bubble Gang’ has transitioned to the 6:45 pm time slot every Sunday to attract a broader audience for its hilarious skits. Upon reviewing old episodes, Contis realized that some sketches are no longer appropriate for today’s audience.
May ibang mga comedy na talagang hindi mo siya magagawa ngayon,” he said during the launching of the Kapuso “Best Time Ever” campaign at GMA Studio 6 in Quezon City.
However, with a general audience comes the need to avoid blue comedy. This change “endangered” his position in Bubble Gang.
Although complaining would do him no good, Contis realized that the show must adapt to the audience’s preferences. Despite the uncertainties, he acknowledged the importance of adaptation as the key to the show’s longevity.
“We adapt. Ako hindi ako Tiktokerist pero we do it. Pero hangga’t maari, siyempre mayroon ka pa ring nilalagay na luma kahit papaano pero ina-adapt niyo in a new way.”
