Kim Chiu, star of ‘What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim,’ identified her co-star Paulo Avelino on March 9 as her male equivalent for several reasons.
Chiu was impressed by Avelino’s passion and commitment as an actor. She also discovered that they share the same love: acting.
“Alam niya yung ginagawa niya, very consistent sa trabaho, and parang we share the same passion when it comes to work. Tsaka parehas kami ng gusto. So, nakakagulat na parang may boy counterpart ko na, ‘Eto, bilisan na natin. Gawin na nating maganda, ganyan,’” she explained during the show’s press conference at the Quantum Skyview in Araneta Center.
“So, nakaka-amaze na makakita ng boy version ko, which is siya,” the actress added.
It also seemed that Avelino appreciated his leading lady’s sense of humor as he responded to Chiu’s boy version statement, “Nalowbat na version.”
The actor continued to impress Chiu, especially after venturing into a different genre from his usual roles.
“Mas nakaka-amaze na tinanggap niya itong rom-com na genre. So, mas napahanga ako sa kanya as an actor kasi kaya niyang gawin lahat talaga.
“Magugulat talaga kayo dito sa ‘Secretary Kim’ kung ano ang ibinigay niya. Mas hahanga kayo sa kanya,” she expressed.
Chiu plays Secretary Kim Liwanag, while Avelino portrays her character’s boss, Vice Chairman Brandon Manansala “BMC” Castillo.
Catch the Kim-Paulo love team on ‘What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim’ on Viu this March 18. The series is directed by Chad Vidanes and is based on the hit Korean drama with the same title.
