Paulo Avelino revealed on March 9 that Kim Chiu was one of the main reasons he accepted the role of Brandon Manansala “BMC” Castillo in ‘What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim.’
“I think if it was offered to me, and it wasn’t Kim, I would probably have second thoughts,” he said during the upcoming show’s media conference at the Quantum Skyview in Araneta Center.
“Siguro ano, itong Secretary Kim dahil sa pagmamahal bilang katrabaho ka, at sa lahat ng binigay mo sa ‘Linlang,’” Avelino added. “So, pambawi sa’yo, I’m here in ‘Secretary Kim.’”
‘Linlang’ was their first project. Since then, the actor fell in love with the actress’s work ethic and was excited to work with her again. When he learned it was Kim who will play Secretary Kim, he immediately accepted the offer.
“I like working with people who works fast and knows what they’re doing, and si Kim ganoon. Kumbaga, mabilis siyang kumilos, alam na niya ang script, alam niya ‘yung gagawin; walang nagiging problema.”
‘What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim’ is the Filipino adaptation of the hit Korean series of the same name. The actor plays BMC, the handsome but narcissistic vice-chairman of a major corporation, while Chiu plays his secretary, Kim Liwanag.
The romance began to blossom when Secretary Kim decided to resign after many years of service, making her boss realize that she was just more than a highly competent secretary.
Joining the pair are Jake Cuenca, Janice de Belen, Franco Laurel, Romnick Sarmenta, Pepe Herrera, Angeline Quinto, Phi Palmos, Kaori Oinuma, JC Alcantara, Yves Flores, Gillian Vicencio, Cai Cortez, Kat Galang, Brian Sy, with special participation from Kim Won-shik.
The series is under the direction of director Chad Vidanes and is set to release its pilot episode on Viu this March 18.
