Seasoned actress Sheryl Cruz recently shared insights into her experience portraying her character’s interactions with Jo Berry’s character in the series ‘Lilet Matias, Attorney-At-Law,’ despite differences in physical stature.
In a press conference on February 24 at the Manila City Hall, Cruz revealed that she had this one particular rule where she would not go ‘maldita’ to artists that are smaller and weaker than her.
“Before, nakasanayan ko kasi na when I do projects na mayroon akong katarayan, be sure na ka-height ko, ka-weight ko, ka-size ko. Because nilagay ko before na ayokong tayaran ang bata, ayokong tayaran yung mga maliit, or mas frailer sa size ko. But then, this project came to by chance, is a blessing in disguise,” said the actress.
Cruz’s perspective shifted when she received recommendations from her cousins to watch Berry’s performances, leading her to eagerly anticipate their on-screen collaborations.
The actress no longer focuses on her character’s actions but also on the execution and directorial vision of Adolfo Alex Jr., emphasizing that she was willing to push her acting boundaries for the project.
“It’s just that ‘yung execution and how the execution would like to be done. But of course, ‘yung captain ng ship, si Direk, kung ano ‘yung gusto niya, ‘yun ang susundin namin.
“So minsan, kapag gusto niyang i-level up, we give it some more tries; wala namang problema doon. Kasi kung sa tingin ng aming boss iyon ang para sa ikakaganda ng produkto ng aming serye, ‘yun ang gagawin namin,” she explained.
Lilet Matias, Attorney-At-Law is on GMA Afternoon Prime, Pinoy Hits, and Kapuso Stream, airing on Mondays to Fridays, 3:20 p.m.
