Host-actress Gelli de Belen continues to captivate audiences not only with her acting prowess but also with her exceptional skills as a host in the entertainment industry.
In a recent interaction with media outlets, following a press conference for the public service program ‘Si Manoy ang Ninong Ko,’ Gelli shared her dilemma when asked to choose between her two passions of acting and hosting, emphasizing her equal fondness for both.
Expressing her sentiments, she stated, “I like both. Mahirap. Magkaibang-magkaiba yung pagmamahal ko sa kanila. “Kasi, madaldal ako, sayang naman, so might as well. But it’s really fun. Nag-e-enjoy akong mag-express ng sarili ko. Nag-e-enjoy ako na malaman kung ano nangyayari sa kung sinu-sino. Parang tsismosa ako, ganun.”
She elaborated further, “‘Yung acting, siyempre, parang passion ko naman yun. Kasi, you know, lahat ng mga babae, they wanna do parang umarte. Gusto natin na paminsan-minsan maiba naman yung realidad natin.”
Aside from her return to hosting duties, ‘Si Manoy ang Ninong Ko’ marks Gelli’s comeback to the GMA Network.
Initially hesitant about accepting the offer to host the show, Gelli admitted, “Marami akong inisip. Pero eventually, when they explained what’s going to happen and kung ano yung advocacy ng show, kung ano ang magiging focus. Naisip ko, not because of Cong. Manoy is in office… Naisip ko, this is a show that wants to help fellow Filipinos. It’s more than the politics, more than whatever. Ang importante ay yung may matutulungan.”
She added, “So sabi ko, I want to be a part of that. Kung may matutulungan, e, join ako. I really want to be part of the show simula nang ma-realize ko kung ano ang mangyayari, kung ano ang gagawin. Sige na, I was all-in.”
Highlighting her anticipation for the unique hosting opportunity presented by ‘Si Manoy ang Ninong Ko,’ Gelli remarked, “Na-excite pa ako kasi this is totally a different kind of hosting for me. Medyo mas serious, medyo mas may puso, may kasama pang experts. So, kailangan ma-marry ko lahat ‘yan to a show that will be interesting at 7 a.m. in the morning and into a show that will give Filipinos hope.”
‘Si Manoy ang Ninong Ko’ airs every Sunday morning at 7 a.m. on GMA Network.
