Kapamilya stars Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano expressed their elation over the remarkable achievement of their series ‘Can’t Buy Me Love,’ as it secures a coveted position among the Top 10 programs on Netflix Philippines.
The duo conveyed their pride in being part of a production that showcases the rich tapestry of Filipino culture and entertainment, underscoring the significance of promoting local content on a global platform.
Pangilinan shared his excitement at witnessing a homegrown show stand alongside popular international offerings on Netflix. He emphasized the importance of spotlighting the vibrant culture of Binondo, Chinatown, where the series is set, and the breathtaking landscapes of Atok in Benguet province, which served as a picturesque backdrop for the narrative.
“More than anything we are very proud there is a local show in the 10 even though there are many Korean Dramas, anime, and even Hollywood series,” Pangilinan shared. “We are happy [that] people love our local content, and that is the most important thing— we are able to put out quality content, especially since I believe ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’ is something different. We are happy to share the amazing culture of Binondo, Chinatown.”
“When I first set foot there, I was like ‘This is in the Philippines?’ I saw the northern blossoms, I said, ‘This is better than Switzerland.’ It is so nice we have these places in the Philippines. And that it is well maintained,” he added.
Mariano echoed Pangilinan’s sentiments, emphasizing that the success of ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’ is a testament to the collective effort of every Filipino involved in the project. She expressed gratitude to the entire team for their dedication and hard work, while also hinting at more captivating developments as the series approaches its conclusion.
“We are so thankful. Everyone is part of it,” Mariano said. “We ourselves are excited to see what is next.”
