Actor and comedian Jerald Napoles was on cloud nine as he led TV5’s newest comedy game show, Barangay Singko Panalo.
On top of hosting a game show, Napoles’ dream job was fulfilled—to star in a sitcom.
“Noong sinabi nila sa akin na ‘Magho-host ka ng game show,’ parang kinilabutan ako, or medyo tumayo ‘yung balahibo ko kasi kinalakihan ko ‘yung game show. Tapos yung mga idol ko na komedyante, lahat nag-host ng game show.
“Full circle lang for me na isa ring komedyante na makapag-host ng isang game show. And then doon na nila pinasok na may skit or may gag show. Sabi ko jackpot naman kasi dream job ‘yang sitcom kapag sitcom tapos magho-host pa ng game show,” the 2018 FACINE Best Supporting Actor beamed during a press conference on March 7.
Barangay Singko is an original game show on TV5 with an added twist of sitcom elements. The daily lives of Filipinos inspire it.
The show’s unique concept is the selling point to the masses, the actor-comedian who portrays Kagawad Je said.
“I think this is a good flavor, or a good show na itambay sa TV ng mga naghahanda para sa dinner or sa balita. Magaan lang, games lang, masaya lang, banter on the spot, anong nararamdaman ng contestant.”
“I think we have something new also, ‘yun ang maganda sa show na ito. We have something new to offer sa primetime,” he added.
Alongside Napoles in leading the show are Kayla Rivera (as SK Kyla) and EJ Gonzaga (as Kap Al).
Barangay Singko Panalo will have its pilot episode on March 11, Monday to Friday at 5:30 p.m. on TodoMax Primetime Singko block of TV5.
