From the stages of Idol Philippines to the iconic halls of Pinoy Big Brother, Anji Salvacion has consistently captivated audiences with her infectious charisma. With the successful launch of her EP, ‘Grit’ following her recent acting projects, Anji’s journey to stardom is all about relentless determination and having faith in oneself.
Anji Salvacion has been actively showcasing her talents whether through singing, acting, or both. She got her first theater role by playing Desire Del Valle’s “Corrine” in the musical adaptation of “Tabing Ilog: The Musical” under PETA. “It was so fun doing Tabing Ilog. It was one of the best days of my life in 2023 and I would definitely do more,” she said.
Anji also showcased her acting skills in the thriller mystery drama, “Linlang” alongside prominent actors like Paulo Avelino and Kim Chiu. “They are such amazing people and such talented people who made Linlang, Linlang,” said Anji, about her experience working with her castmates.
When asked about who she wants to work with in the future, Anji mentioned her desire to collaborate with Enrique Gil, expressing her admiration for the actor’s performance since “Princess and I”.
Despite the success of her projects, Anji faces the common challenges that every public figure encounters. “I can’t do anything about it but I feel blessed pa rin,” she said pertaining to the criticisms she has been receiving.
Her new EP, ‘Grit’, draws from these personal experiences, making it inspiring and meaningful. Anji revealed that ‘Grit’ talks about falling in love, betrayal, self-acceptance and then becoming a masterpiece of loving one’s self. “The title itself is really a statement,” she said. According to Anji, each song serves as a testament to resilience, mirroring her journey of overcoming adversity and emerging stronger than ever.
“We don’t allow anyone to standardize us or allow anyone to limit us in what we can do, so we go further and we go beyond,” Anji said as she discussed the EP’s key track, ‘You Didn’t’ which she later revealed as her favorite among the songs on the EP.
Besides ‘Grit’ being about her journey as an artist, she also said that it is inspired by her upbringing as the eldest daughter of a single mother. “Hindi kami mayaman so looking back from what I’ve been through, I really have to have that grit,” she reflected. “They’re my inspiration, that’s why I always have that grit in life,” she said.
Through her candid storytelling and soulful melodies, Anji proves that she is more than just a talented artist. Her strength lies in embracing her vulnerabilities and celebrating her journey towards self-acceptance. When asked about her future projects, Anji opted not to reveal too much. “Ito [singing] yung pinakang passion ko eh and I’m so excited to release more songs,” she stated instead.
With determination and a resilient mindset, Anji looks forward to the future with optimism as she expressed, “Good vibes lang tayo this 2024 because everyone deserves good vibes and positivity.”
