Anji Salvacion shares her younger brother’s journey to recovery from hearing loss with Manila Hearing Aid. Salvacion’s advocacy for hearing care stems from her brother’s battle with hearing loss and subsequent recovery.
Anji Salvacion is making waves as a rising artist, showcasing immense potential and talent for a global audience. Alongside her ascent to success is her commitment to advocating for hearing care.
Inspired by her brother’s struggle with hearing loss and his eventual recovery with the assistance of Manila Hearing Aid, the young Kapamilya singer-actress finds optimism and determination to confront her own challenges. She had the opportunity to discuss this journey exclusively during our interview with her at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Mactan Cebu on February 27.
“My brother actually started his hearing loss when he was around 6 or 7 years old. Medyo may na-infect lang sa nerve niya, during… kids di ba, kids would have this infection sa ear? Sa kanya, it got really bad; na-ano yung nerve niya, and doon na-infect,” she shared, recounting the origins of her brother’s hearing loss.
Salvacion recalled that she and her brother were in Grades 5 and 4, respectively, when they began seeking medical advice to diagnose and treat Daboy’s condition. She remembered the financial strain her family faced to afford her brother’s regular check-ups. Fortunately, the burden eased with the assistance of Manila Hearing Aid. She explained how her family’s participation in the reality TV show ‘Pinoy Big Brother’ facilitated their connection with and support from Manila Hearing Aid.
“PBB was one of the reasons Manila Hearing Aid reached out to me,” she disclosed, noting the improvement in her brother’s condition following the show.
As an older sister, Salvacion found joy in witnessing her brother’s progress once his hearing was restored.
“Before he was so meek, but now, he is a confident young man and I just can’t wait for him to grow even more,” she remarked, highlighting her support for him throughout his journey.
“Napakasupportive ko sa kanya. Lahat ng gusto niya, pinapa-experience ko sa kanya…I support him no matter what; kung anong gusto niya i-achieve, sinusuportahan ko siya,” she shared.
With the assistance of Manila Hearing Aid, Daboy regained confidence and excelled in his chosen career.
“Right now, because of Manila Hearing Aid, he’s able to lead a labor operation..and you know, things changed and a lot of things happened,” she said, emphasizing his passion for nursing.
“There are sometimes na talagang aabot tayo sa punto in life na hindi natin alam ang gagawin natin, but then God is really, truly, so nice, and so generous that He blessed us with His loving grace, na ngayon, my brother is living a comfortable life,” she added, expressing gratitude for the support she has received in recent years.
