Angel Satsumi, who began her acting career as a child in ‘Pepito Manaloto’, now portrays the real-life struggles faced by teenagers.
During the launch of GMA Network’s ‘Best Time Ever’ on March 15 at the network’s Studio 6 in Quezon City, Satsumi admitted she did not expect her new adventure to become an extended family.
“Malaki na po kasi nag-start po ako sa Pepito, naisip ko po na parang bagong adventure. Pero hindi ko po ine-expect na magkakaroon ako ng second family sa show na iyon sina Kuya Bitoy, Ate Marilyn,” she said.
Having joined the cast at age four, Satsumi’s character Clarissa has matured alongside her. The show began in 2010 and has been running for thirteen years. At 17, the teen actress is nearly a young woman (and even taller than co-star Jake Vargas).
Clarissa’s storylines have also matured. Now a teenager, she’s dealing with issues like love and a friend battling cancer. Satsumi invites viewers to follow the show as Clarissa navigates these challenges, with the support and guidance of her on-screen parents, Pepito (Michael V.) and Elsa (Manilyn Reyes).
“So, parang maipapakita namin kung paano namin haharapin ang mga struggles in life na nangyayari po talaga sa mga teens ngayon, sa mga kabataan ngayon, especially with the help of Tatay and Nanay, kung paano po kami aadvisan, tutulungan.”
The entire cast of ‘Pepito Manaloto’ is also part of a larger Kapuso campaign encouraging families to spend quality time together. They’re joined by shows like ‘Family Feud,’ ‘Bubble Gang,’ and others.
