On February 13, newly appointed Miss Universe-Philippines Pasig Selena Antonio Reyes discussed her purpose in joining the beauty pageant.Â
At a media event for Reyes, which LionhearTV covered, Reyes, 38, said she wanted to showcase her experience as a mother to the Miss Universe pageant.
“With age, as you know, comes with experience, and then with motherhood comes your purpose. So, my purpose is to– like, compared to all the other women, I think I have [a lot] more life experiences from all of them. That’s what I’ll show them. I’m older wiser, and I have something new to bring to the table, as well as my family and kids.”
She also discussed her advocacies as a Miss Universe Philippines contender, such as resiliency, positivity, fitness, motherhood, and mental health.Â
Reyes disclosed her reason for returning to the pageant circuit, citing that lifting the age restriction in Miss Universe helped her take on the opportunity to represent Pasig City.
“When the age limit was lifted, I was [going to] say yes. Opportunity comes once, so why not try it now? [I mean] the beauty pageant or pageantry stage is the biggest platform for our advocacies to be heard. So, I want to maximize this platform to reach as many women, as many mothers, that it’s never too late to be who you want to be. You can always achieve what you want to achieve in life.”
