An February 29, the Manila Police District re-apprehended the embattled drag performer Pura Luka Vega, as disclosed by director Rod Singh of ‘Drag Den’ through his X (formerly Twitter) account.
According to Singh’s post, a Quezon City court issued a warrant of arrest for three counts of violating Article 201 of the Revised Penal Code, prompted by complaints from three churches affiliated with the Philippines for Jesus Movement.
“The recommended bail is set at 360,000 pesos,” stated Singh in the post.
It was also noted in the caption that a donation drive would be organized to assist Pura Luka with her bail and legal fees. This initiative will be managed by Brian Black, known as NAIA, the inaugural Grand Winner of ‘Drag Den Philippines.’

Singh’s post further detailed that the arrest was connected to a case filed by devotees of the Black Nazarene, known as the ‘Hijos del Nazareno.’
Last October, Pura Luka was initially arrested at her residence in Sta. Cruz, Manila, on charges related to violating Article 201 of the Revised Penal Code. The bail was previously set at P72,000.
Pura Luka’s earlier arrest followed the viral circulation of a video depicting her performance of ‘Ama Namin’ while adorned in attire resembling the Black Nazarene.
In response to criticisms, Pura Luka defended herself, asserting that her intentions were never to mock or disrespect anyone’s beliefs. However, some religious leaders deemed her actions as blatant disrespect within the church premises, leading to calls for punitive measures.
