On February 10, actress Nadine Lustre expressed interest in exploring more dark genres in future projects.
At the media conference for Roadkillers on Viva One, which LionhearTV covered, Lustre noted how much she wanted to explore more challenging roles in the future.
“Ako po, darker, more grittier projects, I guess. It’s really because ‘yung mga projects ko before sobrang ano rom com, drama. So, ngayon, I’m at a point na gusto kong mag-explore sa different genres. And I want to do challenging roles.Â
“And I always say this– nakakatawa kasi may nabasa po akong article na ang headline is ‘Nadine ayaw ng maging love team, gusto ng maging psychopath.'”
She highlighted her fascination with psychopathic characters and understanding their motivations.
“Ayun naman po ‘yung lagi kong sinasabi. Kasi, it’s very interesting like doing a role of a psychopath, or a killer, or someone who’s deranged, just trying to figure out how this person’s mind works. Ako po kasi, mahilig po ako sa mga ganong intricate details at ‘yung pinag-aaralan ‘yung mga tao.Â
“Personally, I really like watching ‘yung mga documentaries, alam ninyo naman po na mahilig ako sa mga horror and thriller movies. Mga psychological thrillers, so gusto ko pang mag-dive into that.”
She then noted how her recent and upcoming projects, including Roadkillers and Nocturno, tackle dark themes.Â
“And so far naman po, all of the projects or at least the direction [that] I’m taking is papunta naman po doon.Â
“‘Yung next project ko naman, Nocturno, is also with Direk Mik naman. So ‘yun naman po ‘yung direction ko naman po. So, I’m really excited kung ano ‘yung next project na ipi-pitch sa akin. Looking forward to it.”
As for the series, Roadkillers stars Nadine Lustre, Jerome Ponce, Bodjie Pascua, Francis Magundayao, and Allan Paule.Â
Under the direction of Rae Red, Roadkillers first streamed via Prime Video in November 2023. Now, the action-thriller series revs up for Viva One starting March 1, 2024.
