Diamond star Maricel Soriano recently revealed her disappointment with the treatment she received during the production of the film ‘Batang Quiapo,’ where she starred alongside the late Fernando Poe Jr.
During an interview with Aster Amoyo on February 16, the Diamond Star candidly discussed feeling disrespected throughout the making of ‘Batang Quiapo,’ which prompted her to overlook the billing of her subsequent projects.
In the entertainment industry, billing refers to the acknowledgment of an actor’s role and contribution to a project, typically displayed in opening credits or film posters.
Maricel expressed her dismay over her billing in the ‘Batang Quiapo’ movie, where her name appeared disproportionately small despite her significant role as one of the main cast members.
Recalling the incident, she remarked, “Dahil ang billing ko no’ng ginawa ko ang ‘Batang Quiapo’, Fernando Poe Jr., Maricel Soriano. Do I deserve it? Bakit nila ako ginano’n? Ganito kaliit ang pangalan ko. Sabi ko, deserve ko ba ‘yan? Whether I’m nice or not? Sabi ko na lang sa sarili ko, kaya ka Maricel Soriano dahil kinaya mo lahat ‘to.”
Despite choosing to overlook the incident, Maricel admitted to being deeply affected by the treatment she received.
“‘Wag naman akong bastusin masyado nang gano’n. Komo mabait ba ako o kung anoman ako. Sana hindi nila ako ginano’n. Pero ako nilampas ko na lang ‘yon,” she shared, reflecting on the ordeal during the interview.
