The current Chairwoman of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) Lala Sotto recently opened up about her television preferences during a courtesy call with the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd).
While her allegiance remains with ‘Eat Bulaga,’ her father Tito Sotto’s show, Sotto admitted to occasionally tuning in to Vice Ganda’s ‘It’s Showtime.’
Despite her role in overseeing television content, Sotto disclosed that she enjoys a particular segment on the rival noontime show.
“I like ‘yung isang segment nila. Natutuwa ako. ‘Yung ‘EX-pecially For You’,” she shared during the meeting with SPEEd members.
The revelation prompted lighthearted banter among those present, with teasing questions about whether her mother is aware of her viewership of ‘It’s Showtime.’ Sotto responded with laughter, showcasing her good-natured approach to the discussion.
As the head of the MTRCB, Sotto emphasized the need to maintain impartiality and avoid favoring one show over another, even when faced with the competition between ‘Eat Bulaga’ and ‘It’s Showtime.’ This stance aligns with her regulatory responsibilities in overseeing and ensuring the fair classification of various television programs.
It is noteworthy that Chairwoman Lala Sotto faced criticism from Kapamilya fans after the MTRCB imposed a suspension on ‘It’s Showtime,’ citing perceived violations observed by the board.
