Kapuso stars brighten up the country’s biggest festivals this January

It was indeed a colorful and festive start of the year for both the Kapuso stars and their supporters through the initiatives of GMA Regional TV and Synergy in bringing the ongoing and upcoming shows to different regions across the country to take part in the celebration of some of the country’s biggest festivals.

An Ati-Atihan experience like no other

This year’s Ati-atihan Festival was made extra memorable with the special participation of Primetime Action Hero Ruru Madrid and his co-star Jon Lucas from the top-rating primetime show Black Rider, Joem Bascon and Liezel Lopez from the exceptional drama series Asawa ng Asawa Ko, and Sparkle artists Rocco Nacino, Andrea Torres, and Martin Javier.

It was a splendid night to remember at the Binibini ng Kalibo Ati-atihan 2024 held last January 12 at ABL Sports Complex, Kalibo, Aklan as Rocco used his charm in serenading the candidates, while Andrea dazzled with elegance as she sat as one of the judges in the competition. Martin also enlivened the evening with his very remarkable hosting skills.

Meanwhile, good vibes and high energy filled Pastrana Park in Kalibo last January 18 as Ruru, Jon, Joem, and Liezel showcased some heart-fluttering and entertaining performances in the Kapuso Fiesta attended by a big, lively crowd.

The stars of Black Rider and Asawa ng Asawa Ko felt the festive spirit even more as they also experienced tree planting and tried some exotic food in Bakhawan Nature Study and Eco-Park.

Ruru expressed his gratitude for the warmth welcome by the Kapusong Aklanons.

“Kapag naanyayahan po kami ulit dito sa Kalibo, Aklan, talagang hindi po kami magdalalawang-isip na puntahan po kayo dahil sa saya,” the Black Rider star says.

A star-studded Sinulog celebration

A special back-to-back treat from the Kapuso Network also made the Sinulog Festival 2024 extra vibrant as Ultimate Star Jennylyn Mercado from GMA Prime’s Love. Die. Repeat., together with Gabby Concepcion and Max Collins from the upcoming show My Guardian Alien, brought kilig to the Cebuanos through the Kapuso Fiesta at Ayala Center Cebu, Cebu City last January 19.

“Nakakatuwa at nakaka-excite kasi nakikita namin yung mga Cebuano na ang saya-saya, nagsasayawan. Talagang magkakaroon ka ng energy kasi mapi-feel mo ‘yung energy nila,” shares Jennylyn.

The treat for the Cebuanos did not end there as the stars of the newest revenge drama series Makiling — Kristoffer Martin, Myrtle Sarrosa, Royce Cabrera, and Teejay Marquez — radiated their youthful and positive energy in the Kapuso Mall Show at Ayala Central Bloc, Cebu City last January 20.

Adding more color and vibrant spirit to the celebration were Ken Chan and Kazel Kinouchi from the high-rating afternoon series Abot-Kamay na Pangarap through their love-filled Kapuso Mall Show at SM City Cebu last January 21. Joining the fun and stealing the hearts of the Cebuanos were Kate Valdez and Joaquin Domagoso from the upcoming series Shining Inheritance and Lilet Matias: Attorney-at-Law, respectively.

More fun in the Dinagyang Festival

The festive January continued across the country as GMA Regional TV brought the stars of Love. Die. Repeat., Stolen Life, and Asawa ng Asawa Ko to Iloilo City to add thrill to the vibrant celebration of Dinagyang Festival.

Kapusong Ilonggos were all ecstatic and hyped up as Ultimate Star Jennylyn Mercado and Mike Tan from the GMA Prime series Love. Die. Repeat., together with Carla Abellana from GMA Afternoon Prime’s Stolen Life and Bruce Roeland from Asawa ng Asawa Ko, spread love and brought good vibes in the Kapuso Mall Show held last January 27 at Robinsons Iloilo.

Carla, who is an Ilongga, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to bring joy to all Kapusong Ilonggos.

“Through GMA Regional TV, nakakapunta po ako sa Iloilo. Sana makabalik po ako dito at maikot ko talaga at ma-enjoy ang time ko dito,” shares Carla.

“January has been a very busy yet special month for some of our Kapuso from the regions as some of the country’s biggest festivals are celebrated during this month. On behalf of the whole team of GMA Regional TV and Synergy, we would like to express our gratitude to all Kapusong Kalibonhon, Cebuanos, and Ilonggos for warmly welcoming us despite your hectic schedule this festival season. This is just the beginning as we have a lot of surprises in store this year for our Kapuso all over the Philippines,’’ says Senior Vice President and Head of GMA Integrated News, Regional TV, and Synergy Oliver Victor B. Amoroso. “A huge thank you as well to all our Kapuso stars who were all so game to spread love and joy across the regions,” he adds.
