This is the first time that the Kapamilya noontime show, held the top spot three days in a row.
It seems noontime leadership has made a shift to It’s Showtime. Nielsen Philippines data show a streak of victory for the Kapamilya program, from Tuesday, February 13 to Thursday, February 15. On Tuesday, It’s Showtime narrowly trumped usual leader, EAT Bulaga, with a 0.1 lead, 4.1 to 4.0, while Tahanang Pinakamasaya continued its losing streak with 2.8. Same ranking was observed on the next day, February 14, with It’s Showtime, pulling away with a sizable lead of 0.6, versus EAT Bulaga, 4.5 to 3.9, while Tahanang Pinakamasaya remained on the third, with 3.1
On Thursday, February 15, It’s Showtime‘s people rating rose even higher, to 4.6, although its lead versus EAT Bulaga decreased to 0.5, with 4.1 people rating. Tahanang Pinakamasaya again settled to third place, with 3.0 people ratings.
This seemingly shift in viewers’ preference marks a significant turn, in the fierce noontime battle on Philippine television, as EAT Bulaga held the top position for more than 180 times. It is also worth noting that these consecutive loses happened when the noontime show has already expanded its free-to-air reach via TV5 Tahanang Pinakamasaya won the spot six times, before plummeting and sticking to third place.
One can say, if this trend continues to be observed in the next results of the noontime ratings battle, TVJ is really in serious trouble, as it may forever lose the crown to It’s Showtime.
