After five successful editions of ‘The Voice Kids’ on ABS-CBN, which produced many talented singers who have since grown in the industry, the next edition of the popular singing competition will be aired on GMA Network, as announced during the Kapuso Network’s New Year Countdown.
A spinoff of ‘The Voice of the Philippines,’ the series follows the format of its parent show, which is based on the original ‘The Voice of Holland.’ It aims to showcase the talents of young aspiring singers aged 6–12. It is the third national franchise in the Southeast Asian region to produce a kids’ edition of the show, following Thailand and Vietnam.
Since its inception, ‘The Voice Kids’ has aired five seasons, with winners including Lyca Gairanod, Elha Nympha, Joshua Oliveros, Vanjoss Bayaban, and Shane Bernabe.
From its original coaches Lea Salonga, Bamboo Mañalac, and Sarah Geronimo in Season 1 (2014), the last panel of judges in the previous season featured Martin Nievera, KZ Tandingan, and Bamboo Mañalac.
With its move to a new network this year, it is expected that a new set of coaches will be introduced, likely composed of talents affiliated with GMA Network, similar to what they did with the earlier ‘The Voice Generations.’
The show had high ratings on ABS-CBN and was strong with advertisers, which likely motivated GMA Network to acquire it after their agreement with ABS-CBN expired.
