ABS-CBN action-drama series ‘FPJ’s Batang Quiapo’ is gearing up for its second year with a slew of new cast members, adding depth and intrigue to the already gripping storyline.
Veteran actors Tessie Tomas, Nonie Buencamino, Jaime Fabregas, and rising talent Elijah Canlas have all signed on to join the cast of the hit show, bringing their expertise and star power to the small screen.
In the latest episode of the series, viewers were introduced to the new characters set to shake things up for the central figure, Tanggol, played by the beloved Coco Martin.
Tessie Tomas made her debut earlier in the week as Bettina Caballero, a wealthy and enigmatic woman whose encounter with a thief at Quiapo Church was foiled by the character Tindeng, portrayed by Charo Santos. Last night’s episode delved deeper into Bettina’s character, revealing her as the affluent but stern wife of Jaime Fabregas’ ranch owner.
Despite initial impressions, Bettina’s portrayal hinted at a darker side as she confronted her household staff. Meanwhile, Tindeng found herself working at the Caballero ranch after a disagreement with her daughter Marites’ husband.
Fresh from his acclaimed role as Archie in ‘Senior High,’ Elijah Canlas made a splash as one of the Caballero grandsons. The storyline teased a potential business partnership between the Caballeros and the Montenegros, Tanggol’s biological family.
McCoy de Leon, who portrays Tanggol’s conniving half-brother David, crossed paths with Elijah’s character in a club scene, suggesting a future collaboration as heirs of their respective families.
Meanwhile, Tanggol faced turmoil in prison as inmates initiated a violent uprising, resulting in the presumed death of the warden, portrayed by Jaclyn Jose. Determined to escape, Tanggol encountered a new character played by Nonie Buencamino, marking a significant turning point in the narrative.
In addition to the stellar new additions, upcoming episodes will feature Malou Crisologo, Renz Fernandez, Ara Davao, and Dan Alvaro in key roles, promising even more excitement and drama for fans of the series.
‘FPJ’s Batang Quiapo’ first premiered in February 2023, marking Coco Martin’s triumphant return to primetime television following the conclusion of ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano’ in 2022.
