On February 2, Kapamilya actor Enrique Gil discussed his pursuit of solo projects and adjustments to his showbiz comeback.
At the media conference for his comedy-adventure movie I’m Not Big Bird, which LionhearTV covered, Gil acknowledged the adjustment he had to experience with his showbiz comeback after four years.
“Siguro, not only doing this alone without Liza. I think also, me being out for almost four years was also an adjustment for me to go back and get back on track.”
He then explained that while he had an on-screen pairing with Lisa Frankenstein star Liza Soberano, he had worked on solo projects before.
“And yeah, medyo nasanay din ako, I mean not super, but you know, before I [was] paired up with Liza and our love team, lagi naman ako pine-pair with everybody else, and I really did it solo. Yeah, a lot of movies on my own.
“And, of course, it felt weird, different, but it wasn’t so alien to me.”
When asked how he would describe his time filming the movie, Gil responded, “Yeah, it was so fun, walang iyakan, puro tawanan lang.”
Gil also expressed that he had always wanted to work on similar projects like I’m Not Big Bird, citing how he seized the opportunity when they offered him the script for the adventure-comedy movie.
“Ever since before–I really wanted to do films that I like watching–not necessarily like comedy, but in my mind, I really wanted to do a crazy adventure comedy movie, which this is one. Like Hungover, I’m a big fan of comedy kasi, and I always wanted to have that in my list of projects na gagawin ko and [more] other genres.
“So when this came up–yes, I got to do this time, especially now that everyone’s going back with the pandemic ended.] Everyone’s started opening up and going back to watching films. Yeah, I think it’s time to do something different.”
As for his upcoming film, I’m Not Big Bird stars Enrique Gil, Nikko Natividad, Pepe Herrera, and Red Ollero.
Under the direction of Victor Villanueva and a story written by Lilit Reyes and Joma Labayen, I’m Not Big Bird opens in cinemas starting February 14.
