Diego Loyzaga, the son of Cesar Montano, recently shared insights into his relationship with his father during an appearance on the television program ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda.’

In a candid discussion, Diego opened up about the challenges and aspirations he faced while navigating his father’s prominent shadow.

During the interview, hosted by Boy Abunda, Diego reflected on the complexities of being the offspring of a celebrated figure in the entertainment industry. He acknowledged the initial pressure he felt to emulate his father’s success, admitting to consciously striving to follow in Cesar’s footsteps in the early stages of his own career.

Diego confessed, “I think, Tito Boy, for the earlier part of my career, I was really trying to you know? Fill those shoes.”

In a poignant moment, Diego expressed his desire to establish his own identity and pursue success on his own terms, rather than constantly measuring himself against his father’s achievements. Despite his admiration for Cesar’s accomplishments, Diego emphasized the importance of forging his own path and making his mark in the industry, one step at a time.

“I was trying talaga to be more like him. Then, I think, recently, parang kumalas na rin ako e. I’m just trying to be Diego. I know, they’re very large shoes to fill, kaya hindi ko na pipilitin ang sarili ko na maging isang Cesar Montano. Gusto ko na lang maging isang Diego Loyzaga,” he shared. “Of course, I wanna achieve ‘yung mga na-achieve niya sa career niya, but one day at a time.”

Diego also shared a touching anecdote about receiving praise from his father for his performance in a project they collaborated on. He recounted the emotional impact of Cesar’s affirmation, describing it as a meaningful validation of his efforts.

Moreover, Diego revealed that despite their past differences and his upbringing apart from his father, they have since developed a close bond. He noted that they now frequently engage in heartfelt conversations, particularly about Diego’s daughter, Hailey, whom Cesar adores.

Currently, Diego is set to appear in the upcoming film ‘A Glimpse of Forever’ alongside Jasmine Curtis-Smith and Jerome Ponce. Additionally, he bravely discussed his past struggles with depression and his journey towards recovery, including seeking help through rehabilitation.

Diego Loyzaga’s candid revelations shed light on his personal growth and evolving relationship with his father, offering viewers a glimpse into the complexities of familial dynamics within the entertainment industry.
