On January 30, the National Commission for Muslim Filipinos – Bureau of Peace and Conflict Resolution Director Cosanie Derogongan discussed the credibility of their research for the Sultanate Films International film ‘Kampilan, The Untold Story of Kalip Pulaka’.
At the movie launch of ‘Kampilan, The Untold Story of Kalip Pulaka’, which LionhearTV covered, Derogongan remarked how they based the film on the laws and stories passed down through Darangen of the Maranao culture.
This is unwritten laws. So, our ancestors, pinapadaan ito sa Darangen.
“Because the laws of– the traditional laws of Muslim, is very unique. You can’t just glance once tapos maintindihan mo siya. So, para hindi na pagdebatehan ang credibility ng aming source of making this Kampilan, we base our history on Darangen.”
He then remarked how they wanted to showcase Muslim culture in their upcoming film.
So, to some of that, this is an educational film ang gagawin natin.
He also noted their hopes of having the film shown in cinemas.
“We will do our best, and as I have said, we entered [to] the movie industry, and we will continue our goal– to give education through the power of media.”
‘Kampilan, The Untold Story of Kalip Pulaka’ is currently under the script-development process, but they hope to have the film shown as an educational movie, citing the untold story of Lapu-Lapu.
Present during the launch of ‘Kampilan, The Untold Story of Kalip Pulaka’ are Director Angelo Carpio, Director Cosanie Derogongan, Sultan Bob Datimbang, and Sheikh Abdul Razzaq Siddiq.
