Mayor Bullet Jalosjos of Dapitan City addressed rumors surrounding his purported involvement with actor Dominic Roque, asserting the need for accountability in the face of false information dissemination.
During a televised discussion with Jay Ruiz and Congressman Bong Suntay, Jalosjos refuted claims linking him to Roque, particularly rumors suggesting that he purchased a condominium unit for the actor, leading to speculation about a financial arrangement between them.
Setting the record straight, Jalosjos clarified that the condominium unit in question belonged to him and had been converted into an AirBnB rental. He explained that Roque, as a friend, had approached him about renting the property, prompting Jalosjos to address the matter publicly to dispel any misconceptions.
“Clarify ko lang, actually ‘yung condo totoong akin talaga ‘yon,” Jalosjos shared. “Ginawa ko siyang airbnb. Syempre, as a friend, barkada, si Dom, asked me if I want to have it rented. Natawa na nga lang ako bakit tumalon ‘yung issue sa business na binahay na.”
Expressing disappointment with individuals within the entertainment industry who initiated the rumors, Jalosjos stressed the importance of responsible journalism and factual accuracy. He urged for thorough fact-checking and accountability among media professionals to prevent the spread of misinformation.
Jalosjos also expressed sympathy for Roque, acknowledging the scrutiny the actor faced following his breakup with actress Bea Alonzo and the subsequent rumors questioning his sexuality. He emphasized the need to halt the circulation of baseless rumors and called for repercussions against those responsible for spreading them.
The mayor revealed details of an agreement with Roque, wherein the actor would oversee renovations for the condominium unit and contribute half of the rental fees. To substantiate his claims, Jalosjos presented a receipt confirming Roque’s payment for the rental.
Congressman Bong Suntay, who was also implicated in rumors involving Roque, clarified that the actor served as a brand ambassador for his gasoline business and debunked allegations of purchasing a gas station for Roque.
