Actress, comedian, and host Tuesday Vargas reflects on her choice in the 2022 presidential elections amidst the recent verbal clash between President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and the Duterte family, led by former President Rodrigo Duterte and Davao City Mayor Baste Duterte.
In a Facebook post dated Tuesday, January 30, Vargas shares photos with former Vice President Leni Robredo, taken during the 2022 presidential campaign.
The comedian praises Robredo, contrasting her with the ongoing public disputes within the Duterte family and urging them to prioritize the nation over their internal family feud.
According to the comedienne, “Mabuti pa ang nanay namin, mabait na, maganda pa at mahusay din! 🌺🌸💐🌸🌺🌸🌸🌸🌸. Tatay nyo, ate nyo at kuya nyo nag babangayan na sa harap ng lahat. BANSA ang unahin huwag yang family feud ninyo.”

Vargas also emphasizes that Filipinos should not be swayed by the current political discord and instead concentrate on contributing to the betterment of the country.
Marcos Jr. and the Dutertes recently trade barbs during their respective “loyalty check” rallies held in Manila and Davao City.
Former President Duterte, in a profanity-laden speech at their so-called prayer rally on Sunday, January 28, slammed Marcos Jr., calling him a “drug addict.”
“Bongbong, bangag ‘yan. That’s why sinasabi ko sa inyo. Si Bongbong Marcos bangag noon. Ngayong presidente na, bangag ang ating presidente. Kayong mga military alam ninyo ‘yan, lalo na ‘yong mga nasa Malacañang, alam ninyo. The Armed Forces of the Philippines, alam ninyo. May drug addict tayo na presidente! Putang inang ‘yan!”
Meanwhile, Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte called for Marcos Jr.’s resignation, stating that if the president lacks love and aspirations for the nation, he should step down.
“Mr. President, if wala kay gugma ug aspirations sa imohang nasod, resign,” he said during an earlier Hakbang ng Maisug Leaders Forum in Davao City. (Mr. President, if you do not have love and aspirations for your country, resign.”)
Marcos Jr. meanwhile just laugh off Duterte’s attack.
At the sidelines of the Bagong Pilipinas Kick-off rally at the Quirino Grandstand also on Sunday, the President alluded the older Duterte’s statement to his fentanyl medication.
“I think it’s the fentanyl. Fentanyl is the strongest pain killer that you can buy…. After five, six years, it has to affect him, that’s why I think this is what has happened.”
Marcos Jr., along with Vice President Sara Duterte, successfully ran and won under their Uniteam coalition party, with VP Duterte currently serving as Marcos Jr.’s Education Secretary.
