Following the court’s ruling in favor of TVJ’s trademark claim, TAPE Inc. opted to discontinue the use of the title ‘Eat Bulaga!’ and rebranded its noontime show on GMA Network as ‘Tahanang Pinakamasaya.’ How did this name change impact the show’s TV ratings?
According to the latest ratings report from the Nielsen NUTAM People survey, ‘Tahanang Pinakamasaya’s’ debut episode fell short against its noontime competitors, ‘EAT..Bulaga’ and ‘It’s Showtime.’
On Saturday, January 6, ‘Tahanang Pinakamasaya’ secured the third spot in the ratings race with a rating of 3.2 percent. TVJ’s ‘EAT..Bulaga,’ on the other hand, claimed the top position with a rating of 4.4 percent, followed by the Kapamilya noontime show ‘It’s Showtime,’ which registered a rating of 4.3 percent.
In the subsequent episode on Monday, January 8, ‘Tahanang Pinakamasaya’ narrowly surpassed ‘It’s Showtime’ by 0.1 percent, recording a rating of 2.8 percent compared to the latter’s 2.7 percent. ‘EAT..Bulaga’ remained at the forefront with a rating of 4.1 percent.
By Tuesday, January 9, ‘Tahanang Pinakamasaya’ experienced a 0.5 percent increase, tying with ‘It’s Showtime’ at 3.3 percent. Similarly, TVJ’s ‘EAT..Bulaga’ improved by 0.3 percent, maintaining its leadership in the noontime slot at 4.4 percent.
As TAPE Inc. has rebranded its noontime show, the question remains whether it will retain its loyal ‘Eat Bulaga!’ audience, or if it will face challenges from its two noontime rivals, potentially settling as the regular number three noontime program.
