The series ends on Friday, January 19 on a high note, leaving a lasting imprint and a cautionary tale for viewers to ponder upon.
After more than 4 months on air, Senior High finally bids adieu on air, but not without delivering a compelling spectacle. From the kilig moments shared by some unexpected partnerships and the ones viewers have always rooted for in the series, to countless relatable themes, that brought to light various teenage issues, the series teemed with a spectacle never-before-seen on primetime.
There have been several attempts to serve audience with similar stories in the past, but Senior High is definitely on another level. It’s an exceptionally-written, compellingly-told, and a powerfully-acted television masterpiece, delivered with grit, gutsiness, and depth, one the local audience has long been deprived of.
From being a coming-of-age drama, whose core story initially put a young girl’s unfortunate demise front and center, the series grew into a hodgepodge of various social topics, which many still elude in their public conversations. From themes involving mental health, suicide, domestic violence, teenage pregnancy, premarital sex, homosexuality, and even grooming (which remains unheard-of to many), Senior High thrived in boldness and grittiness in telling a cautionary tale that not only the young ones should be aware of, but also parents.
Alongside such a feat of telling a powerful story, Senior High, also exposed the acting brilliance, not just of its veteran cast members, but also, and more impressively, the young ones. From child wonders (and now exceptionally-talented teen actors), Andrea Brillantes, Zaijian Jaranilla, to young singer-actors, Kyle Echarri and Juan Karlos, the Dreamscape Entertainment series did not run out of seasoned and young talents, alike. To many, the series also became the introductory platform for the likes of Elijah Canlas, Miggy Jimenez, and Tommy Alejandrino, whose stints in the series are undoubtedly their biggest to date. Of course, we can’t forget the rising star, Daniela Stranner, whose singular take on Z, should only mean more major roles in the future.
