In the midst of a viral controversy surrounding actor Ian Veneracion’s talent fee for a festival parade appearance in Tarlac, director and writer Ronaldo C. Carballo has issued an apology to the renowned actor.
Carballo clarified his intentions behind the viral post but expressed remorse if it negatively impacted Veneracion’s image.
The controversy began when Carballo shared details of the actor’s potential participation in the festival during an interview with a tabloid editor.
Carballo asserted that he had permission from his “source” to discuss the matter and did not intend to tarnish Veneracion’s reputation.
Having known Veneracion since the ’80s, Carballo praised the actor’s diverse talents in acting, singing, and painting. He expressed surprise at the post gaining viral traction and clarified that his intention was not to portray Veneracion in a negative light.
“I am so sorry to Ian. Sincerely, nagsu-sorry ako kung nailagay ko sya in a bad light. Kung nai-exposed ko ang dealings & demands ng kanyang RM na ikina-turn off ng ‘private company’ at ng Tarlac Festival.”
While extending his apologies, Carballo stood firm on not retracting the information in his post, emphasizing the credibility he has built over 43 years as a writer in the industry.
