On January 2, reports seemed to affirm that Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera’s Metro Manila Film Festival 2023 entry became the highest-grossing MMFF film.
According to a report from entertainment blogger Rod Magaru, based on his reliable source, the Star Cinema drama movie has reportedly grossed over P368 million, ending January 1, 2023, nationwide screening.
According to estimations, ‘Rewind’ would reach the P400-Million-Mark any time this week.
While the report isn’t an official tally of the earnings of each MMFF entry, DongYan’s ‘Rewind’ may have broken various box office records if the reported gross earnings would prove true.
According to Magaru’s article, ‘Rewind’ surpassed Deleter (P234 Million) and Partners in Crime (P168 Million) from MMFF 2022. Aside from that, the Star Cinema movie may have also become the highest-grossing film of 2023, besting Kathryn Bernardo-Dolly De Leon’s A Very Good Girl.
Once the official tally comes out and it confirms that ‘Rewind’ is the highest-grossing film of MMFF 2023, the Star Cinema movie under the direction of Mae Cruz-Alviar would be Marian Rivera’s highest-grossing movie since Enteng Kabisote 2.
Following ‘Rewind’s reported earnings are the MMFF 2023 entries Mallari and Gomburza.
Piolo Pascual’s psychological horror has reportedly reached P90 Million in gross earnings, while Cedrick Juan-Enchong Dee-Dante Rivero’s historical film nears P50 Million.
According to MMFF Chairperson Atty. Don Artes, the Metro Manila Film Festival 2023 has reportedly reached P700 Million in total earnings from all ten entries.
