This week saw the premiere of two Kapuso afternoon dramas, ‘Makiling’ and ‘Romantic Deception.’ How did they fare in TV ratings?
On Monday, January 8, GMA Network’s latest afternoon thriller drama, ‘Makiling,’ made its debut.
According to the latest Nielsen NUTAM People survey, the series garnered a decent rating of 6.5 percent, securing the 8th position in the overall ratings board.
Notably, ‘Makiling’s’ pilot ratings surpassed those of its predecessor, ‘I Can See You,’ which averaged between 5 and 6 percent, with its finale episode on Friday, January 5, scoring 5.9 percent.
The series, starring Derick Monasterio and Elle Villanueva, introduced the characters Amira and Alex, depicting their simple lives at the foot of Mount Makiling. The pilot episode also portrayed the unfortunate fate of Amira at the hands of the avaricious “Crazy 5,” played by Myrtle Sarrosa, Kristoffer Martin, Royce Cabrera, Teejay Marquez, and Claire Castro. Produced by GMA Public Affairs, the same production behind Lolong, The Write One, and Owe My Love, ‘Makiling’ airs from Monday to Friday at 4:00 p.m.
In addition to ‘Makiling,’ the Thai drama ‘Romantic Deception’ also premiered on GMA’s Afternoon Prime lineup.
According to the AGB Nielsen NUTAM People ratings report, ‘Romantic Deception’ secured a rating of 2.7 percent, claiming the 18th spot on the overall ratings leaderboard.
But unlike ‘Makiling,’ ‘Romantic Deception’s’ pilot ratings were lower than its predecessor, ‘The Deadly Affair’s’ finale episode rating of 3.4 percent.
