On January 6, Viva artist Maebelle Medina explained why she changed her name for their film Karinyo Brutal.

At the media event for Karinyo Brutal, which LionhearTV covered, Medina, commonly referred to as Manang Medina, revealed that their director, Jose Javier Reyes, preferred to have her screen name changed for the project.

“Gusto ko pa rin po sana ‘yung Manang. Eh si Direk po, hate niya po na tinatawag akong Manang, that’s why pinalitan niya po ‘yung name ko diyan. ‘Yan po.”

Medina then talked about working with Reyes, citing how chill and efficient their director is while filming Karinyo Brutal.

“Sobrang gaan po katrabaho ni Direk and sobrang dali lang katrabaho dahil ang bilis niya kumilos doon sa set and then sobrang gaan. Sobrang nadalian kami.

“Nagkakagulatan kami na ay pack up ka na, parang ganon po, sobrang saya po, parang hindi po kami nagtratrabaho sa set.”

Medina worked on Vivamax movies such as Langitngit, Lagaslas, and Gluta.

As for their upcoming Vivamax film, Karinyo Brutal stars Apple Dy, Maebelle Medina, and Benz Sangalang with Armani Hector, Ghion Espinosa, and Aries Go.

Under the direction of Jose Javier Reyes, Karinyo Brutal streams on Vivamax starting January 12, 2024.
