Following the success of “Sparkle U: #Frenemies” and “Sparkle U: #Ghosted” comes the third story of GMA Network’s youth-oriented anthology titled “Sparkle U: #Soundtrip.”
Beginning January 7, Sparkle artists Zephanie and Michael Sager return to Sparkle U, reprising their roles as Sue and Marco, respectively.
Sue is already in college and has finally become part of Sparkle Symphony, the college music group she sees as her gateway to stardom. However, Sparkle Symphony is on the verge of being discontinued. To save the group, Sue meets and recruits Alyssa (Althea Ablan), a senior high school student of Sparkle U, who secretly loves to sing and write songs. Alyssa is torn between following her dreams of becoming a musician or following the dreams of her parents.
Aside from being busy with Sparkle Symphony, Sue also feels pressured in her situationship with Marco, a happy-go-lucky college freshman taking up architecture. Like any other freshmen, Marco believes that he has all the time in the world and is not yet ready to commit to a relationship. Eventually, he realizes his true feelings for Sue.
Will Sue be able to save Sparkle Symphony and finally define her relationship with Marco?
Joining the ensemble cast are Sparkle artists Matthew Uy as Ethan Santiago, the audio man of Sparkle U Symphony; Vanessa Peña as Yam Agustine, the scheming and manipulative freshman college student taking up Communication Arts; Lauren King as Yarah Emmanuel, loyal and trusted confidante of Yam and social media manager of Sparkle U Symphony; and Gaea Mischa as Sharifa Cabrido, junior high student of Sparkle U and a supportive member of Sparkle U Symphony.
Adding excitement to the feel-good series is Geleen Eugenio as Ms. Miranda Ignacio, Marco’s wealthy grandmother and one of the board members of Sparkle University
This original series is headed by GMA Network SVP for Entertainment Group Lilybeth G. Rasonable, VP for Drama Cheryl Ching-Sy, AVP for Drama Ali Nokom-Dedicatoria, Senior Program Manager Anthony R. Pastorpide, and Executive Producer Erwin Hilado.
