On January 10, actress-director Laurice Guillen highlighted the audition process and concept behind Asawa ng Asawa Ko.
At the media conference for Asawa ng Asawa ko, which LionhearTV covered, Guillen revealed that every lead actor for the teleserye went through the audition process for their respective roles.
“Practically, all the lead roles ‘yung ano, na-audition, kasi nga ang hinahanap na napili– we had to find, first of all, ‘yung willingness ng artista, kasi ang lalim nito eh. Ang dami nilang mabibigat na pagdadaanan.”
She also discussed the storylines they have in store for the main characters portrayed by Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Liezel Lopez, and Rayver Cruz.
“Especially, the role of the wife, ‘yung kay Jasmine. Kasi in a way, istorya niya ito na isang asawa na you know, they got married and then shortly after na-kidnap siya and then years later, makakabalik siya. Pero, hindi ganon kadali, sa four years, maraming mangyayari. So, ang bigat ng requirement, sa kanila pareho.
“And then also Liezel because she’s not just the other woman, in a way, she’s like, she masterminded the whole thing. You wouldn’t think– the lengths she would take for love, di ba?
“Si Rayver naman, kausap ko rin noong audition niya, si Rayver kilala ko sa ano pa, sa kabila pa, noong 18 years old lang na nagwo-workshop I’ve worked with Rayver sa workshops, ang dali niyang dalhin kahit saan. But then at this point in this life niya, sabi ko, ‘ilang taon ka na?'”
She also shared the plot and concept of Asawa ng Asawa Ko.
“She was practically sheltered, kahit mayroon siyang anak, with her boyfriend, it is still sheltered life, tapos mabihag ka for four years, and then maputulan ka ng daliri, mabaril ka, ang daming nangyari sa kaniya, hanggang sa matuto siyang lumaban, ang daming nangyari.
“So when she comes back, it’s not just she comes back like nothing happened. She comes back to claim her rightful ano, ‘yung asawa niya at anak. It’s not just the legal thing because in all four years–did something to her, and in those four years, ang daming bumabalik-balik sa kaniya that makes it complicated. Nandoon ang drama. Hindi siya ‘yung the usual kaliwaan story eh, very demanding.”
