On January 22, Star Magic head director Laurenti Dyogi reacted to getting dubbed as a ‘Starmaker.’
At the media conference for Zoomers, which LionhearTV covered, Dyogi first looked back on his career in the entertainment industry as a director of youth-oriented programs.
“Starmaker? Ang hirap ‘yung term na Starmaker. I’ve been– eversince I started my career, ang tagal-tagal na noon, tatlong dekada na ‘yun. I’ve been comfortable working with very young actors. I was the director of Gimik, at iba pa at that time, I was part of SCQ, and then PBB was really sa mga teens and interview, I was really comfortable working with new ones–30 years in the industry.”
He highlighted how he found joy in seeing the potential in young talents.
“I find so much joy seeing– sinabi ko nga dati sa PBB, kapag audition process ng PBB in particular, it was like finding a needle in a haystack, sa libo-libong tao na nandiyan, makahanap lang ako ng isa or dalawa na lalaki or magkakaroon ng magandang karera sa industriya, nakakataba ng puso.”
He emphasized how he values cultivating the potential in young artists.
“And I always believe na probably part of my vision is to help others na ma-attain nila ‘yung full potential nila. Because I feel that was the service, I can give to the young hopefuls na makatulong.
“Kailangan lang naman may isang taong maniwala sa isang may potential. That’s all you need, one person to believe in you, talagang mapu-push ko. And sometimes–most of the times, I want to be that person to our new artists.
“Kapag may sinabi ko na to help them na maniwala lalo sa sarili nila ang laki noong ano. Hindi man sila sumikat ng husto ‘yung maibibigay nila sa pagkatao nila and their chosen career in the future di ba? Gusto kong matandaan nila ‘yung paniniwala ko sa potential ng bawat isa na masasabi ko, ikaw may potential ka.”
