Comedian Joey de Leon has kicked off the new year with a heartfelt tribute, dedicating his first artwork of the year to the various TV stations that have hosted the iconic noontime show ‘Eat Bulaga.’
Joey took to his Instagram account to offer a sneak peek of the painting, expressing his gratitude to the different TV networks that have been instrumental in the success of the long-standing show. The artwork ingeniously incorporates numerical representations corresponding to the TV channels associated with ‘Eat Bulaga’: E for 9, A for 2, T for 7, and B for 5.
In his caption, Joey wrote, “This painting is dedicated to all the TV stations we’ve been to, E for 9, A for 2, T for 7 and B for 5,” expressing thanks not only for the New Year’s well-wishes but for the countless years of collaboration. He extended his best wishes to everyone for a prosperous 2024.
In another post revealing the complete artwork, Joey captioned it as “‘9275,'” conveying his wishes for a healthy and joyous 2024.
The journey of ‘Eat Bulaga’ has been remarkable, spanning various television stations. It initially aired on RPN-9 from 1979 to 1989, transitioned to ABS-CBN from 1989 to 1995, and eventually found its home on GMA-7 from 1995 until 2023.

Presently, ‘EAT’ is broadcast on TV5, while the iconic ‘Eat Bulaga’ continues to captivate audiences on GMA Network. Commencing on January 6, the noontime show, ‘E.A.T.,’ featuring hosts Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon, alongside the Legit Dabarkads, will also be aired on RPN 9-CNN Philippines.
Notably, the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPO) recently nullified the trademark registration of ‘Eat Bulaga’ by TAPE Inc.
The ruling acknowledged Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon as the original creators of the name, granting them the “absolute and exclusive right to register” the ‘Eat Bulaga’ or ‘EB’ trademark, supported by substantial evidence. In contrast, TAPE failed to adequately substantiate its claim of ownership over the ‘Eat Bulaga’ name.
