On January 11, Roadtrip stars Janice de Belen, Gelli de Belen, Carmina Villaroel, and Candy Pangilinan discussed their views about friendships that come and go.
At the media conference for Roadtrip, which LionhearTV covered, Gelli acknowledged that there are friendships that don’t have deep enough connections to make them last.
“Minsan kasi parang may mga nakakasama tayo sa trabaho na we feel we’re really close, and then we move on to our next project parang nawawala ‘yung closeness. Siguro baka mamaya, the connection is not as deep as you want it to be or as it should be, so maybe hindi lang talaga. And then you meet other people na, mga panibagong friends ulit.’
Candy recounted how she used to categorize people in her life that she could consider as family and friends.
She surmised that friendships come and go as people grow old because they tend to simplify their lives.
“Habang tumatanda ka, talagang magbabawas at magbabawas ka eh. Hindi sa hindi ka nagbabawas. Kusa siyang nawawala. Kasi sini-simplify mo yung buhay mo. ‘Yung ay di naman pala kailangan.”
Janice pointed out that some friend groups may have only reached the ‘discovery’ stage of their relationships.
Discovering who your friends are, discovering kung sino ba talaga ‘yung kasundo mo. May matitira, may malalagas. So kapag natira, edi alam mo na, baka it’s worth keeping, kapag nalagas, alam mo na per project lang ito.”
Carmina posed questions regarding the impact of social media on friend groups of today.
“Actually iniisip ko nga, ano ba ‘yung difference ng then and now, kung mayroon bang difference.
She also surmised that there might be a change brought by social media or through the go-getter attitude of the younger generation.
Carmina also noted how their friend group differs from others, especially with how easy it was for them to ‘jive.’
