On December 22, actress-director Gina Alajar admitted feeling frustrated with the health restrictions and how it limits senior actors from getting projects.
At the media event for ‘Pieta,’ which LionhearTV covered, Alajar expressed exasperation with how the health restrictions affected their morale as actors.
“Aba siyempre, nakakapikon, nakaka– mas lalong nakakawala ng moral, nangyari na nga na nag start na sa pandemic na ang mga senior citizen ayaw palabasin ng bahay, kahit na kaya naman natin.”
She also emphasized how healthy and ready she was to continue working.
“Kami ni– eh senior citizens, we’re up and about eh. Ang lakas-lakas pa namin. They’re putting restrictions on us, na sila naman ay wala naman kinalaman sa atin health at ating lifestyle.”
She then expressed her hopes of getting the ‘Eddie Garcia’ bill passed in Congress.
“Sana maisakatuparan na ‘yun para iisa na lang, kung ano na lang, ‘yun ang susundin. So kapag director ako, I follow the 18-hours. Kapag artista ako alam mo, I think– hindi naman ako nagka-cut off, pero they finish lang at a certain time. Lalo na ngayong nag-artista ako ulit.Â
“They finish me ahead of everyone naman. Hindi ko kailangan magsabi sa production na– ‘Oy may cut-off ako ha.’ So they call me at 6:30 in the morning, 18 hours, is 12 midnight, so by 12 or before 12 tapos na ako.”

Under the direction of Adolfo Borinaga Alix Jr and the screenplay of Jerry B. Gracio, ‘Pieta’ is set to premiere in early 2024.
