On January 9, actor Elijah Canlas recounted an unpleasant experience working in teleseryes that almost made him quit showbiz.
At the media conference for Senior High Finale, which LionhearTV covered, Canlas admitted that he avoided working on TV because of the unpleasant experience during his early years in showbiz.
“Fun po. I mean I did a couple seryes din po with Cignal Entertainment before, but iba po ‘yung ABS-CBN of course.Â
“I remember lang ‘yung mga first TV experiences ko kasi it honestly not fun, made me want to quit acting. So, medyo iniwasan ko talaga ‘yung TV for the longest time.”
He then clarified that he accepted the project because of the cast and crew involved in the series.
“Pero dahil nga po sa group of people na ‘to, sa team na ‘to, umoo ako. Tapos noong nag pitch po and everything, it was something that was exciting for me, and something that I thought was really precious. Kaya payag ako.
“Tapos ang saya lang, ang saya ng world building dito sa Senior High and ‘yung character building.”
He then highlighted the discipline and urgency needed when working in teleseryes.
“Pero, ‘yung TV, iba po talaga siya eh, it was an exercise in discipline, on urgency, kung gaano ka kabilis mag-internalize or whatever, or kung gaano ka kabilis mag-memorize and discipline talaga. And I don’t mind doing it again.”Â
He then thanked Dreamscape Entertainment for the opportunity to work in the series.
“Super pasalamat po talaga sa Dreamscape and sir Deo sa tiwala na binigay nila sa project na ‘to. It was something new to me, and I’m really grateful for it.”
