The unexpected on-screen chemistry between Maris Racal and Anthony Jennings in the series ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’ has taken viewers and netizens by storm, with many expressing admiration for their tandem as Irene and Snoop.
ABS-CBN News recently caught up with the lead actor of the series, Donny Pangilinan, to gather his thoughts on the sudden surge of interest and popularity surrounding Racal and Jennings.
Pangilinan, who plays a pivotal role in the series, shared his enthusiasm for the newfound recognition of his co-actors and their characters.
“I love them. That’s all I’m gonna say. Mga kapatid ko ‘yan,” Pangilinan expressed.
The actor is delighted to witness Racal and Jennings receiving the spotlight they deserve in the show. “I think, ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’ is ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’ because of everyone there. So, I can’t wait for more of their scenes,” he added.
Acknowledging the impact of the project on their camaraderie, Pangilinan admitted to growing closer to Jennings through the course of the series.
When asked to elaborate on the depth of their closeness, Pangilinan hesitated momentarily, prompting his mother, Maricel Laxa, to interject, “Parang adopted son ko na nga ‘yan eh…” Donny nodded in agreement, affirming the strong bond.
“He’s in the house right now. Literally. Kasi kagagaling ko lang sa bahay nandun lang siya. Sobrang close kami nun. As in, galing kaming taping ibang unit kagabi. Ngayon nasa bahay lang siya kasi nagkuwentuhan kami after. Hindi ko nga alam kung gising pa ‘yun eh,” Pangilinan shared, shedding light on the depth of their friendship.
Regarding how Jennings is handling the buzz surrounding his on-screen pairing with Racal, Pangilinan emphasized, “Basta si Anthonny very game lang siya, and sabi ko naman sa kanya na simula pa lang ‘to at mas marami ka pang mapapakita sa mga tao, simula pa lang ‘to.”
