In an interview with Luis Manzano, renowned actress Claudine Barretto unveiled her ongoing efforts to reclaim a substantial sum of money from an undisclosed ex-husband, emphasizing her commitment to securing financial resources for her children.
Claudine candidly shared details of the considerable amount involved, stating, “We’re talking about hundreds of millions na. Ang iniwan sa akin was P25,000. Sa isang bangko pa lang was, like, P116 million. Isang bangko pa lang ‘yun. And iniwan was P25,000. And I don’t know kung bakit kahit na or whatever, dapat sinasabihan ka ng bangko, ‘di ba?”
The actress recounted that during their time together, her ex-husband returned a mere P7 million of the substantial sum. Claudine, at that time, opted not to engage in a legal battle to avoid tarnishing his image. However, with her children growing up and increased financial needs, she has decided to pursue legal recourse.
Claudine disclosed the ongoing court proceedings, underscoring her determination to claim what rightfully belongs to her. The urgency of the matter is accentuated by her children’s aspirations to study abroad.
She remarked, “Ngayon, since malaki na ang mga anak ko, Sabina wants to study abroad, Santino’s in Brent and alam naman natin kung gaano kamahal ‘yun.”
Acknowledging the potential impact on her career due to legal battles, Claudine expressed gratitude for the encouragement she received from Vilma Santos, Luis Manzano’s mother.
According to Claudine, Ate Vi advised her to fight for her rights as a mother and wife, offering supportive words to motivate her.
While Claudine refrained from disclosing the ex-husband’s name, it is known that she has been estranged from actor Raymart Santiago, with whom she had a civil wedding in May 2004 and a church wedding in March 2006.
