Alden Richards has debunked rumors surrounding his alleged marriage and parenthood with his former on-screen partner, Maine Mendoza.
Initially thinking that their lives would settle down once Mendoza’s relationship with actor Arjo Atayde became public, Richards shared in an interview with Toni Gonzaga, “All along akala ko by the time na, of course, Maine and Arjo and they became public and they got married eventually …Nandiyan pa rin ‘yun (mga tsismis).”
In a recent clarification, Richards reiterated that there is no truth to the persistent speculations. “I already said my piece about this. It’s not true. Wala pong katotohanan lahat. Wala po kaming anak. We never got married. We don’t have a love child. But right now po I’m at a point na, masaya po sila roon eh, tatanggalin ko pa ba? Ira-rub ko pa ba sa mga buhay nila na, ‘wala nga, huwag kayong makulit.’ I’m not that kind of person. I always support the happiness of people.”
Richards disclosed that he had an honest conversation with Mendoza before she tied the knot with Atayde. “Maine and I had a heart-to-heart conversation recently, before she got married. Then I told her everything. That at the end of the day, it’s your differences whether you’ll make it or not, and your priorities in life,” he shared.
Emphasizing the significance of maintaining peace and happiness in his life, Richards indicated that he is content with his present state and is focused on seizing every opportunity.
The ‘AlDub’ tandem, comprising Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza, first gained popularity as on-screen partners on ‘Eat Bulaga!’ Their chemistry sparked romance rumors, and Richards later confessed to having romantic feelings for Mendoza.
Despite the speculation, both actors have moved forward with their lives. Mendoza is happily married to Arjo Atayde, and Richards prioritizes privacy while expressing contentment with his current life.
