On January 23, actor Aga Muhlach recalled talks with Star Cinema about a May-December romantic film with Julia Barretto in 2017.
During the media conference for Ikaw Pa Rin Ang Pipiliin at the Viva Cafe, which LionhearTV covered, Muhlach recounted meeting Julia Barretto in 2017 in ASAP Natin ‘To.
“I remember doing, nasa ABS pa siya with Star Cinema, she was with Joshua that time, ‘yung love team nila. I was there to promote a movie, Seven Sundays I think no, Seven Sundays in 2017, and pag-pasok ko doon, parang napag-usapan namin ni Tita Malou, kayo ni Julia ang gagawa ha. That time in 2017 ha. That didn’t happen but it was already that encounter ganon na na, ‘Oh gumawa kayo ng pelikula.'”
He then noted that he had a May-December love affair project with Bea Alonzo.
“Even that time, it was going to be a May-December love affair but ang ginawa ko was the one with Bea, ‘yung First Love. ‘Yun ang movie na ginawa ko.”
He then detailed how he called Barretto’s mom, Marjorie, assuring her about their project, Ikaw Pa Rin Ang Pipiliin.
“First project talaga ito. As a matter of fact, to make it nicer and ganyan. I even called her mom noong first day of shoot namin and then sinabi ko na, ‘Wag ka mag-aalala, it’s going to be nice.’ And she was– si Marj was very grateful and thankful na sinabi niya, ‘Aga, mabait ‘yan si Julia. She got an old soul ganyan.’ Through Marj na rin na sinabi niya na ganyan.”
He also cited how he knows the Barretto family after working with some of them on previous projects.
“So, alam ko naman because I know all of them, I know sabi nga, I’ve worked with Gretchen, I’ve worked with Claudine, I’ve worked with Marjorie, and I love them. And I mean–they’re like family to me. So, there was nothing [really] personal. So, it was [really] just [nice] to work with someone you know.”
As for their film, Ikaw Pa Rin Ang Pipiliin stars Aga Muhlach and Julia Barreto.
Under the direction of Denise O’Hara, Ikaw Pa Rin ang Pipiliin, under Viva Films, opens in cinemas on February 7.
