Amidst swirling rumors of relationship turmoil, Tonton Gutierrez has categorically refuted claims of a strained relationship with Glydel Mercado, dismissing the speculations as “fake news.”
The veteran actors have recently become subjects of speculation regarding the state of their relationship, but Tonton set the record straight, asserting, “Hindi ko alam kung saan nanggaling `yan, pero there’s no truth to it! Si Glydel, nasa lock in taping ngayon. We’re okey, magkasama lang kami recently.”
Undeterred by the circulating rumors, Tonton emphasized that their relationship remains unaffected. He stated, “Sa amin, kahit may lumabas na ganiyan, hindi naman kami naapektuhan. Magkasama kami. Alam namin kung ano ang totoo! Alam ko sa sarili ko na hindi totoo. Hindi na kailangang mag-react!” Tonton also highlighted the endurance of their relationship, spanning an impressive 25 years.
Reflecting on past challenges, Tonton openly admitted that he and Glydel went through a phase marked by arguments and a temporary separation. “Pero matagal na `yon. Nasa townhouse pa ako noon, may mga gamit siya sa bahay, at pinabalik ko sa driver sa kanila. May isang grabeng away ‘yon, pero ang nakakatawa, hindi ko na maalala kung ano ang pinag-awayan namin. Parang pinalaki lang namin `yon. Basta, pareho naming hindi maalala. Naalala lang namin na nag-breakup kami ng 2 weeks,” Tonton shared.
Detailing the reconciliation, Tonton revealed, “Noong pinasoli ko nga sa driver ko ang mga gamit niya, noong bumalik ang driver ko, ang sabi, ‘Kawawa naman, iyak nang iyak’. Halos kababata ko `yung driver ko na `yon. Naawa raw siya. Eh, mahal ko naman na siya noong time na `yon. Ako ang nag-reach out sa kanya. Pero ang nakakatawa nga, hindi naman namin napag-usapan kung ano ang pinag-awayan namin.”
In a surprising turn of events, Tonton and Glydel find themselves collaborating on the movie ‘Unspoken Letters,’ where Tonton portrays Glydel’s on-screen child. Their playful banter on set has marked a lighthearted dynamic, representing the first instance of Glydel playing the role of Tonton’s mother in a film.
‘Unspoken Letters,’ featuring Jhassy Busran, is scheduled for release on December 13. The film boasts a cast that includes Gladys Reyes, Simon Ibarra, Matet de Leon, Orlando Sol and is produced by Utmost Creatives.
